Zest Education are recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to work in a fantastic special educational needs school located in Tamworth. This position is due to begin September 2022 and will continue on a long-term basis into the new academic year. The successful Teaching Assistant will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 15:30.

The school caters for children from the age of five to thirteen with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). The successful candidate must be confident with managing challenging behaviours. Although this position is to work in a school environment, we are open to receiving applications from TA’s, support workers and individuals that have worked with adults with special educational needs.

This school is improving within academic and attainment levels and is continually looking to ensure their students develop into respectable and inspiring individuals. You will be working with the children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, supporting with all areas of the curriculum and to encourage independence where possible.

The role:

  • You must be confident with your behaviour management, de-escalating any challenges you may face with you calm, rational approach
  • You must be passionate about working with students with special educational needs and have previous experience of working in a special school or similar environment
  • You will be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
