Teaching Assistant – Walsall

Job Description

Zest Education are recruiting exclusively for a fantastic teaching assistant role at a busy special educational needs school in Walsall. This is a full-time position starting ASAP and will continue on a temporary basis until Easter 2023.

This school caters for students from the age of seven to eighteen with moderate learning difficulties, however majority of the students have additional needs, including autism, speech, language and communication difficulties and some behavioural issues. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with special educational needs or in a similar setting.

This is an ‘Outstanding’ rated school who have a dedicated team who work hard to maintain a supportive and inclusive ethos across all areas of the school. The school encourages all children to develop into independent, respectful, and confident individuals.

You will be required to work with the students in small groups and individually. It is important that you are confident, enthusiastic, and able to identify and engage with different learning needs.

The role:

  • This school follows the Team Teach behaviour management principles, experience, or knowledge of this would be advantageous
  • You have previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs or in a similar setting
  • You will need to quickly build engaging relationships with small groups of children, and you will need to work closely as a team with the class teacher and other teaching assistants.
