Job Description

Zest Education is currently recruiting for an experienced and confident Year 2 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Lichfield. This is a full-time class teaching role available to start as soon as possible.

The school is seeking a strong classroom practitioner with proven experience in Year 2 who can quickly establish routines, maintain high expectations, and create a positive learning environment where all pupils can thrive.

About the Role

As the Year 2 Class Teacher, you will take full responsibility for a Year 2 class, including planning, preparation, assessment, marking, and parent communication. You will deliver engaging lessons that support pupils as they continue to develop key literacy, numeracy, and social skills.

Furthermore, you will work closely with support staff and school leaders to ensure every child receives the challenge and support they need to achieve their full potential.

Due to the needs of the class, the school is particularly keen to appoint a teacher with strong behaviour management skills who can provide consistency, clear expectations, and effective classroom leadership from day one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for teaching a Year 2 class.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and learning.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all pupils.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, parents, and colleagues.
  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have recent and successful experience teaching Year 2.
  • Demonstrate strong behaviour management and classroom leadership skills.
  • Have a secure understanding of the KS1 curriculum.
  • Be organised, resilient, and proactive.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Be committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for every child.

This role is best suited to an experienced teacher who can confidently manage a classroom, maintain high standards, and make an immediate impact.
