Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)? Are you looking for a rewarding and fulfilling role in education? Zest Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant to join a school in Willenhall.
About the Role:
As a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with PMLD, aged between 4 and 18. This position is set to start in February, allowing you to make a positive impact from the beginning of the new half-term. You will work closely with the class teacher and the SENCO to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students with complex needs.
Responsibilities:
– Provide one-on-one support to students with PMLD, following individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs).
– Assist with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support.
– Support students during class activities, ensuring their safety and engagement.
– Collaborate with the teaching staff to adapt and modify teaching materials to suit individual needs.
– Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting social interaction and independence.
Requirements:
– Relevant experience working with children or young adults with PMLD is highly desirable.
– Knowledge of special educational needs and the ability to adapt teaching techniques accordingly.
– Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with students, staff, and parents.
– Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
– Ability to work well as part of a team and contribute to a positive learning environment.

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
