English Teacher – Meriden

Job Description

Zest Education is currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a prestigious SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Meriden. This is a full-time position, requiring the successful candidate to work five days a week.

As an English Teacher at our SEMH school, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality education and support to students with diverse learning needs. Your main responsibility will be to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons, tailored to meet the individual needs of each student. You will be responsible for teaching the English curriculum, focusing on key language skills such as reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching English, preferably with experience in working with students with SEMH needs. You should have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties and be able to employ effective strategies to support their learning and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:
– Plan and deliver engaging English lessons, ensuring they are differentiated to meet the needs of individual students.
– Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
– Assess and provide feedback on students’ progress, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate interventions.
– Collaborate with other members of the school staff to develop and implement individualized education plans for students.
– Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and behaviour.

Requirements:
– Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialization in English.
– Experience in teaching English, preferably in an SEMH or special educational needs setting.
– Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
– A patient and nurturing approach, with the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
