Teacher of Food Technology

Job Description

Zest Education are seeking a qualified and experienced Food Technology Teacher to join a secondary school in the Hall Green area. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering practical and theory-based lessons in Food Technology. This is a full-time role due to commence in September 2025. The role is expected to run for a minimum of one term, with possibility of further extension.

Responsibilities:

– Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Food Technology, both practical and theory-based
– Create a positive learning environment that fosters student engagement and achievement
– Assess student progress and provide timely feedback
– Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies and resources
– Ensure the safety and supervision of students during practical lessons
– Promote an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
– Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information
– Participate in department and school-wide meetings and professional development activities

Requirements:

– Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent
– Experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level
– Strong knowledge of the Food Technology curriculum
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to engage and motivate students of different abilities
– Organisational and time management skills
– Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures in a practical teaching environment

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
