Full-time Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is working in close partnership with a special educational needs school located in Nuneaton, who are looking to appoint a full-time Teaching Assistant.

This position is available for an immediate start and will continue on a long-term basis for the remainder of the academic year. As a Teaching Assistant in our school, you will have the opportunity to work with students aged 11-19 who possess a wide range of talents and learning disabilities.

To be successful in this role, you must have previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs or have a care/support work background. Our ideal candidate is confident, enthusiastic, and able to identify and engage with different learning needs. Strong behaviour management skills are crucial for maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher, providing support to students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups across all areas of the curriculum. Your role will involve ensuring continuity in the classroom and promoting the academic and personal growth of our students.

 Key Responsibilities:

– Collaborate with the class teacher to deliver tailored support to students with special educational needs.

– Provide one-to-one support and assistance to students, addressing their individual learning needs.

– Support students in small groups, enhancing their understanding and engagement with the curriculum.

– Implement behaviour management strategies to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

– Foster strong relationships with students, promoting their personal and academic growth.

– Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) for students.

– Collaborate with other members of the school team, including therapists and support staff, to ensure a holistic approach to student support.

 

 Requirements:

– Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs or a care/support work background.

– A genuine passion for working with students with special educational needs and a commitment to their success.

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, staff, and parents.

– Excellent organizational skills to support the planning and implementation of individual education plans.

– Ability to adapt and differentiate teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

– Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to special educational needs.

– Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, would be advantageous.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
