Full-time Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant in a unique special educational needs school located in Cannock. This is a full-time position starting September 2024 and will be ongoing until the end of the academic year. You will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 15:30pm. This school caters for children from the age of five to seventeen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). The ideal candidate will have previous experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs and is confident with their behaviour management.

The school benefits from excellent outdoor facilities and has strong focus on inclusion and equality, aiming to provide all pupils with the necessary life skills. The school are looking for an individual who is motivated and is persistent to overcome any challenging barriers with students to achieve the best possible results. You will be working alongside the teacher, supporting with resources, maintaining the classroom, and supporting the children 1:1 and in small groups.

The role:

  • You have experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs
  • You support the children to learn as effectively as possible in small groups and individually
  • To support the pupil in developing social skills both in and out of the classroom

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
