1-1 Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Job Title: Full-Time 1:1 Support Teaching Assistant
Location: Tyseley, Birmingham
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time

Zest education are seeking a compassionate and committed 1:1 Support Teaching Assistant to join our caring and inclusive primary school in Tyseley from September 2025.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide tailored support to a child with additional needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.

About the Role:

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to provide consistent, personalised support to a named pupil with specific learning and/or behavioural needs. Your duties will include:

  • Delivering 1:1 support in line with the pupil’s individual education plan (IEP)

  • Assisting with learning activities inside and outside the classroom

  • Encouraging the pupil’s independence, confidence, and engagement

  • Supporting social interaction and emotional regulation

  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, external agencies, and parents/carers

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be patient, empathetic, and able to build positive relationships

  • Have experience supporting children with SEND (desirable but not essential)

  • Be a good communicator and team player

  • Be proactive and flexible in meeting the needs of the child

  • Hold a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
