Job Description

Are you a nurturing and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? Zest Education is proud to be working with a fantastic primary school in Balsall Heath to recruit a full-time TA to work 1:1 with a pupil requiring support with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder).

🏫 About the Role:

This rewarding position begins as soon as possible in September 2025 and will run on a long-term, full-time basis. You’ll be supporting a child on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day, helping them to manage their emotions, navigate social situations, and stay positively engaged in the classroom environment.

The school is a well-respected, inclusive junior school that plays an active role in the wider Balsall Heath community — a diverse, vibrant area of Birmingham known for its strong sense of community spirit and cultural richness.

✨ Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH and ASD needs

  • Implement and adapt strategies to help manage emotional regulation and behaviour

  • Encourage social interaction, communication, and positive learning behaviours

  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff, the SEND team, and external professionals

  • Maintain a safe, supportive and consistent environment that enables the child to thrive

✅ What We’re Looking For:

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification (or above) in a relevant childcare subject – essential

  • Experience supporting children with additional needs, including SEMH and/or ASD

  • A calm, consistent and empathetic approach to support and behaviour management

  • Full availability for the duration of the role
