Zest Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work in a warm and welcoming primary school in the Tamworth area. This role is available Monday to Wednesday and offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a young pupil who requires consistent, understanding, and trauma-informed support.
You will be working closely with a pupil who requires 1:1 support throughout the school day. This is a highly rewarding but demanding role, and we’re looking for someone who is genuinely committed to supporting young people through emotional and behavioural challenges.
Location: Tamworth area
Working Days: Monday to Wednesday (Full Days)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Start Date: ASAP
Be trauma-informed and able to recognise and respond to emotional needs calmly and appropriately
Have the patience and resilience to support a young person with frequent outbursts, emotional dysregulation, and behaviours such as absconding or resource destruction
Not take behaviour or rejection personally – this role requires someone who can stay calm, positive, and professional in all situations
Be able to build strong, trusting relationships over time, using humour, praise, and consistency
Know when to step in and when to step back – the ability to read the moment is crucial
Maintain safety and boundaries for both themselves and the pupil at all times
Communicate openly, honestly, and positively with the class teacher and the pupil’s parents
Be able to adapt learning tasks and the school day to the pupil’s interests and needs, including offering breaks, snacks, and movement when needed
Stay relentlessly positive, focusing on encouragement and success rather than mistakes or negatives

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
