Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a friendly primary school in Burton upon Trent. This is a full-time role, starting ASAP, working mainly across Year 2 and Reception classes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA or a confident Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step, with a strong passion for Early Years and Key Stage 1 education.


The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teaching and learning in Reception and Year 2

  • Deliver small group and intervention sessions

  • Cover lessons when required, following planning provided

  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development

  • Work closely with class teachers and support staff

  • Help create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment


The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds HLTA status (or equivalent experience)

  • Has experience working in Early Years and KS1

  • Is confident supporting whole-class learning and interventions

  • Has strong behaviour management and communication skills

  • Is proactive, flexible, and works well as part of a team

  • Is committed to supporting pupil progress and wellbeing

  • Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday

  • Location: Burton upon Trent
