Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant for Child with Severe ASD in Primary School SEND Department
Start Date: September 2025
Location: Hounslow
Zest Education is looking for a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work in a primary school SEND department with a child who has severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a crucial role that requires someone with prior experience working with children who have special educational needs (SEN) and specifically with children who have ASD.
Responsibilities:
– Providing 1:1 support and assistance to the child with severe ASD in both academic and non-academic activities
– Implementing individualized learning plans and behaviour strategies as directed by the SENCO and class teacher
– Assisting the child in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
– Supporting the child in developing social skills and promoting positive interactions with peers
– Collaborating with the SENCO, class teacher, and other professionals to ensure the child’s needs are met effectively
Requirements:
– Prior experience working with children who have SEN, particularly with children who have severe ASD
– Knowledge and understanding of strategies for supporting children with ASD in an educational setting
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs
– Relevant qualifications in education or special education are desirable but not essential
This position is a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of a child with complex needs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the life of this child and contribute to their progress and achievements throughout the academic year.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
