Zest Education are proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lichfield, who are looking to appoint a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal child in the Early Years Foundation Stage. This rewarding role is to start immediately and will be ongoing for the right person. This is a full-time, term-time role to start ASAP. The school is part of a supportive and caring community and is looking for someone who can become a long-term asset to their team.
The successful candidate will be working on a one-to-one basis with a non-verbal child, supporting them in all areas of their learning and development. You will play a vital role in helping the child to access the Early Years curriculum, develop their communication skills, and feel secure and supported within the classroom environment.
Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Early Years (Non-Verbal Child)
Location: Lichfield
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Ongoing
Provide 1:1 support throughout the school day, both in and out of the classroom
Use alternative communication methods such as visual aids, Makaton, or PECS
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider staff team
Build a trusting, supportive relationship with the child
Support with personal care if required
Previous experience working in Early Years or with SEND children
Knowledge of strategies to support non-verbal communication (desirable but not essential)
A nurturing, patient and empathetic approach
Strong teamwork and communication skills
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
