Classroom Support Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Classroom Support Assistants for a special educational needs school located in Lichfield.

About the School:

The school provides education and care for children and young people aged between 2-19 years who require additional support due to their physical disabilities and complex medical needs. The school boast an exciting and inclusive curriculum, a supportive staff team, and a warm and friendly environment for both students and staff.

Responsibilities:

As a Classroom Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the classroom teacher in delivering individualized education plans (IEPs) and implementing differentiated instructional strategies.
  • Supporting students in accessing the curriculum, both in the classroom and during extracurricular activities.
  • Promoting a positive and nurturing environment by fostering strong and effective teamwork among staff and students.
  • Encouraging independence and social interaction among students, promoting their overall well-being.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Proven experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, preferably in a classroom setting.
  • Flexibility and reliability to adapt to changing needs and ensure the smooth running of classroom activities.
  • High levels of motivation, imagination, and enthusiasm to engage students and make learning fun and enjoyable.
  • An innovative and creative approach to teaching and learning, utilizing a range of resources and strategies to meet individual needs.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
