Are you an experienced SEN Teacher in Derby looking for a rewarding new role? Zest Education is recruiting for a passionate and dedicated Full-Time Special Needs Teacher to join a brand-new Resource Base Provision at a welcoming primary school in Derby.
This exciting full time SEN teaching opportunity is ideal for a teacher who understands the needs of non-verbal and pre-verbal learners and is looking to make a genuine difference in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
You will lead a small, specialist class of 11 pupils (9 EYFS and 2 Year 1) who are non-verbal or pre-verbal. The provision is purpose-built to support children with complex communication needs, helping them to thrive through tailored, sensory-based, and structured learning experiences.
Plan and deliver personalised learning for pupils with additional and complex needs.
Support and encourage communication using PECS, Makaton, visual aids, and alternative communication methods.
Create a calm, safe, and engaging classroom environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and independence.
Work collaboratively with a team of teaching assistants, therapists, and SEN specialists.
Track pupil progress and adapt learning to meet individual targets.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Experience teaching pupils with SEN, communication, or developmental needs.
Understanding of non-verbal / pre-verbal communication and sensory-based learning.
Patience, creativity, and a caring approach to education.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
