Inclusion Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate Inclusion Assistant to support a young learner in a Reception class at a primary school in Tamworth. This is a full‑time role, Monday to Friday, working 8:30am–3:30pm, starting in September.

A Level 3 TA qualification is desirable, and experience within the EYFS is essential. Experience supporting SEND pupils is highly beneficial.

This role involves learning British Sign Language (BSL) to support a child with hearing impairment. Training will be provided by a Teacher of the Deaf. Candidates with Level 2 BSL are highly desirable and may be eligible for an enhanced pay scale.

About the Role

As an Inclusion Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a child with hearing impairment
  • Learn and use basic BSL (or apply existing Level 2 BSL skills)
  • Implement Speech & Language interventions
  • Support learning and development within the EYFS
  • Work closely with the SENCO, parents and carers
  • Follow strategies outlined in the child’s EHCP
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement
  • Maintain a calm, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

  • Has experience supporting children with hearing impairment
  • Can learn and use BSL confidently
  • Has strong EYFS knowledge and experience
  • Understands how to support pupils with additional learning needs
  • Can implement EHCP strategies effectively
  • Communicates clearly and works well with families and staff
  • Is organised, flexible and proactive
  • Uses positive behaviour management strategies

Contract Details

This position is temporary until 31st July 2027, or until the child leaves the school, and is dependent on ongoing funding.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications.
