Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting for a Part‑Time Year 1 Teacher to join a warm, community‑focused primary school located in a friendly village on the outskirts of Swadlincote. This role is due to start after Easter and involves taking full class responsibility three days per week.

Role Overview

We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic and creative teacher to lead a Year 1 class on a part‑time basis. You will be responsible for planning, teaching and assessing high‑quality lessons that support early learning, phonics development and personal growth.

Key Details

  • Position: Part‑Time Year 1 Teacher
  • Location: Mainstream primary school in Swadlincote
  • Start Date: After Easter
  • Days: 3 days per week (full class responsibility)
  • Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Contract: Long‑term
  • Requirements:
    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    • Experience teaching in KS1 is desirable
    • Strong classroom management and organisational skills
    • Commitment to the part‑time role and wider school community

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Teaching a Year 1 class three days per week
  • Planning and delivering engaging, age‑appropriate lessons
  • Supporting early reading, phonics and foundational learning
  • Marking, assessing and tracking pupil progress
  • Creating a positive, nurturing and well‑structured classroom environment
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure continuity and consistency
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff and families
