Primary Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We are looking for someone passionate about KS1 to listen up! Do you have a nurturing and supportive nature? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

A lovely school in Smethwick is currently seeking a Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. Working on a part-time basis, four days a week, you will have the chance to play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of  year 2 students whilst achieving a better work life balance. This role is due to start December 2024 and will continue for at least two academic terms.

As a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment. Your main responsibilities will include:

1. Providing one-on-one or small group support to students who may require additional assistance in their academic studies.
2. Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons that cater to the individual needs of the students.
3. Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to the class teacher to aid in the development of tailored learning strategies.
4. Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging a safe and respectful classroom environment.
5. Collaborating with parents and guardians to ensure a seamless learning experience for every student.

To be successful in this role, you should have a genuine passion for education and a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of children. You should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build strong relationships with both students and colleagues. Ideally, you will have prior experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar role within a primary school setting. However, we welcome applications from candidates who are enthusiastic and willing to learn.

Pay will begin from £80.00 per day and will depend on experiences and references.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
