SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time – Stafford

Zest Education is looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Stafford. This full‑time role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential.


About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with:

  • Autism (ASC)
  • Moderate to severe learning difficulties
  • Communication and sensory needs
  • Social, emotional, and behavioural challenges

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group classroom support
  • Helping pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and independence
  • Assisting teachers with tailored learning activities
  • Supporting sensory and therapeutic interventions
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs
  • Strong patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • A calm, proactive approach to behaviour management
  • A genuine passion for supporting SEN pupils

Experience with autism, complex needs, or non‑verbal communication approaches (e.g. PECs, Makaton) is desirable but not essential.
