About the Role

At Zest Education we are currently seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant for a school based in Lichfield, the ideal candidate will be available to start March 2025 with availability to work 5 days a week. In this role you will be supporting learners with additional needs in a year 5 class. This SEND Teaching assistant role with involve working under the guidance of the class teacher, you will support children with their learning, helping them to progress their development whilst also supporting their social and emotional needs.

To keep in line with the school’s ethos, it is desirable that you are a creative individual who likes to think outside of the box, making learning fun and impactful.
Key Responsibilities of SEND Teaching assistant:

  • Provide one‑to‑one and small group support for pupils with a range of SEND needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in creating a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Adapt resources and activities to meet individual pupil needs and support the class teacher in preparing class activities/workshops.
  • Build engaging relationships with both staff and children.
  • Promote emotional well‑being, resilience, and independence.
  • Nurture social skills, boosting confidence, and helping pupils manage their emotions and mental health.

Requirements of SEND Teaching assistant:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND (desirable but not essential).
  • A patient, empathetic, and child‑centered approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A willingness to learn and develop within the role.
  • Good behavior management skills.
  • Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
