SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a full‑time SEND Teaching Assistant to support Key Stage 1 pupils at a welcoming mainstream primary school in Burntwood. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in a nurturing school environment.

The role begins in September 2026 and is ideal for a patient, proactive and dedicated individual who enjoys working closely with young learners.

About the Role

You will support KS1 pupils with a range of additional needs, including ADHD and autism, working with small groups as well as providing occasional 1:1 support. Your role will involve helping children access learning, regulating emotions, building confidence and developing key skills.

This is a rewarding position where you can make a genuine difference to children’s progress and wellbeing.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Term‑time only
  • Start date: September 2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting KS1 pupils with SEND in small groups and occasional 1:1 sessions
  • Helping children with ADHD and autism engage positively in learning
  • Assisting the class teacher with planning, resources and classroom routines
  • Encouraging independence, emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and wider staff

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications.
