SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting an enthusiastic and skilled SEND Teaching Assistant to join a warm, inclusive primary school in the Brownhills area. The role will be 15 hours per week. The school is known for its exemplary behaviour, strong pastoral ethos and highly collaborative staff team. It provides a nurturing, child‑centred environment where pupils with complex needs are supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

This role is ideal for a practitioner with experience supporting pupils with complex SEND needs, particularly within KS1. You will primarily work on a 1:1 basis, with flexibility to deliver small‑group interventions and wider class support when required.

About the Role

As part of the school’s dedicated SEND team, you will:

  • Deliver bespoke learning activities under the guidance of the SENCO and class teacher
  • Support pupils in meeting their EHCP targets, ensuring learning is accessible and engaging
  • Contribute to phonics teaching, using adaptive or multisensory strategies
  • Monitor, record and report on pupil progress, supporting academic, social and emotional development
  • Promote inclusion, independence and confidence in every learning activity
  • Work closely with parents, carers and external agencies (e.g., SALT, EPs)
  • Uphold the school’s strong values and nurturing ethos, ensuring every child feels valued

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
