SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive primary school in Tamworth. This full‑time role, starting September, is based within the school’s SEND provision, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs in a calm, structured environment.

This position runs Monday to Thursday, 8:30am–3:30pm, and is ideal for someone who thrives in a nurturing setting and is passionate about helping children with SEND feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored support within the school’s SEND provision
  • Work with pupils who have a range of needs, including communication, sensory and emotional regulation challenges
  • Support learning through structured activities and personalised strategies
  • Help pupils manage transitions, routines and social interactions
  • Work closely with the SENDCo and provision lead to follow individual support plans
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
