Zest Education is recruiting an experienced Teaching Assistant with SEN expertise to join a supportive, inclusive primary school in Burton-upon-Trent. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs, helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
This warm and welcoming 1.5 form entry primary school and nursery serves a richly diverse community, with inclusion, care, and high expectations at the heart of everything they do.
As a Teaching Assistant supporting pupils with SEN and additional needs, you will play a key role in helping children overcome barriers to learning. You will work closely with the SEN team and class teachers to provide personalised support and ensure all pupils can achieve their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils with communication difficulties and other additional needs
Delivering personalised learning activities tailored to individual pupils
Working collaboratively with teachers and the SEN team to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
Encouraging resilience, independence, and confidence in pupils
Contributing to the school’s high standards of behaviour and achievement
Providing meaningful support that directly impacts children’s learning and development
We are looking for a candidate who:
Has a genuine passion for working with children and supporting their learning journeys
Is patient, caring, and enthusiastic, with a proactive approach
Holds a Level 3 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in supporting teaching and learning
Has experience working with children with additional needs, including communication challenges
Understands the primary curriculum and can adapt support for diverse learners
Works well as part of a collaborative team
Possesses excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
Maintains high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
