Zest Education is recruiting a proactive and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide specialist one-to-one support for a pupil in Reception at a welcoming primary school in Tamworth. This role also involves delivering small group interventions across the class to support wider learning. This position is term time only, working 22.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:45am–1:15pm, starting as soon as possible.

📚 The Role – Teaching Assistant (Reception)

The school is seeking a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant who can provide focused 1:1 support for a child while contributing to the learning of the whole class. This Teaching Assistant role in Tamworth is ideal for someone passionate about Early Years education, with experience in EYFS, sensory needs, and behaviour management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering specific one-to-one support for a Reception pupil

  • Leading small group interventions to support literacy, numeracy, and phonics development

  • Supporting EYFS curriculum delivery, including confidence in phonics sessions (knowledge of Little Wandle Phonics is desirable)

  • Recognising and responding to sensory needs and potential triggers for pupils

  • Building a strong, trusting bond with the assigned child while maintaining professional boundaries

  • Supporting class teachers and contributing as a team player in a small school environment

To be considered for this Reception Teaching Assistant job in Tamworth, candidates should:

  • Demonstrate ability to build a strong, trusting relationship with a child while maintaining professional boundaries
