Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to a special educational needs college in Stoke-on-Trent. This rewarding role is set to commence in September 2024 and will span the entire academic year, offering long-term employment stability.

As a full-time Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to work Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 15:30 at the college, which specialises in providing support to young individuals between the ages of 16 to 25 with Autism (ASC) and associated learning needs. These diverse needs include communication challenges, social difficulties, and mental health issues.

In this dynamic environment, tailored individual support is crucial for our learners, as they follow personalised programs aimed at enhancing their employability skills and fostering independence in preparation for adulthood. Collaborating closely with employers, the students gain valuable workplace experience to facilitate their transition into the workforce.

To excel in this role, you must have prior experience in supporting individuals with special educational needs. Working on a 1:1 basis with students and in small groups, you will play a pivotal role in assisting them academically and emotionally. Your collaborative efforts with the class teacher will ensure that every student is provided with the necessary support to achieve their full potential.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
