Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is currently recruiting a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work at a special educational needs school located in Tamworth.

This role is due to begin September 2025 on a long term basis, there are both full and part time positions available.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work with students ranging from the age of 3 to 19 with severe learning difficulties, Autism and profound and multiple learning difficulties. While previous experience working in an SEN/ASC environment would be desirable, we value excellent support skills, the right motivation, personal qualities, and levels of resilience to create a positive impact on our students’ lives.

At the school, you will work within a supportive and collaborative environment, equipped with modern facilities to aid effective teaching and learning. With small class sizes and the opportunity to work on a one-to-one basis with children whenever possible, you will have a direct and transformative impact on their educational experience.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

– Support students with severe learning difficulties, Autism (ASC), and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)

– Foster the development of social, life, and independence skills

– Assist with the planning and delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons

– Provide one-to-one support to students, where applicable

– Collaborate with teachers and other members of the school community to create a nurturing and inclusive environment

– Ability to adapt and tailor support to meet individual needs

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
