Year 2 Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education are looking for a hardworking, experienced Teaching Assistant to join a school in Tyseley on a full-time basis. You will be required to support and assist in a Year 2 Class, Monday – Friday, working the hours 8:30am – 3:30pm. This is an ongoing role till the end of the academic year, giving you the opportunity to build a long-lasting relationship with a fantastic school. This role can start in April 2025.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Implement planned learning activities as agreed with the Class Teacher.
  • Participate in planning of activities and provide feedback to the teacher.
  • Assist the teacher in keeping track of, evaluating, and documenting the behaviour and development of the students.
  • Provide additional support to students as needed by working with them one-on-one or in small groups.
  • Prepare classroom materials and learning areas ensuring they are safe.
  • Communicate student progress to senior leaders, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Recognise and encourage self-directed learning and inclusive education for all students.

You must have…

  • Relevant experience working with children in an education-based setting.
  • Good knowledge of the National Curriculum.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal as well as active listening skills.
  • An enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one.
  • A genuine passion for helping children to achieve academically.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
