Role Overview: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the Year 3 class teacher to support the learning and development of students. You will provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring that every child receives the assistance they require to reach their full potential. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and contribute to their academic success and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to some students with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) in accordance with their individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of the students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and other members of the school staff to implement strategies for differentiation and personalized learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and adapting support strategies as necessary.
  • Promote positive behaviour management techniques and support students in developing social skills and emotional resilience.
  • Contribute to the overall pastoral care and well-being of the students, providing encouragement, guidance, and support as needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role, preferably within a primary school setting.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their learning and development.
  • Knowledge of various learning difficulties and disabilities, as well as strategies for supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic classroom environment.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with children of varying abilities and backgrounds.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or special educational needs (SEN) would be advantageous.
