Role Overview: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the Year 3 class teacher to support the learning and development of students. You will provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring that every child receives the assistance they require to reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to some students with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) in accordance with their individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and inclusive lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of the students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and other members of the school staff to implement strategies for differentiation and personalized learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and adapting support strategies as necessary.
  • Promote positive behaviour management techniques and support students in developing social skills and emotional resilience.
  • Contribute to the overall pastoral care and well-being of the students, providing encouragement, guidance, and support as needed.


  • Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role, preferably within a primary school setting.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their learning and development.
  • Knowledge of various learning difficulties and disabilities, as well as strategies for supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic classroom environment.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with children of varying abilities and backgrounds.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or special educational needs (SEN) would be advantageous.
