English Teacher & Literacy Lead
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £38,766 – £60,092 per annum (Inner London MPS/UPS + TLR 1)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: North West London
A high-performing secondary school in North West London is seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational English Teacher & Literacy Lead to join its successful English faculty from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practitioner with a passion for literacy and curriculum development to take on a whole-school leadership role.
This is a large, diverse, and high-achieving secondary school that has been recognised nationally for its academic success and inclusive ethos. The school is deeply rooted in its local community and is committed to providing a transformational education to every student, regardless of background.

The English Teacher & Literacy Lead will:
Teach English across KS3, KS4, and potentially KS5 to a high standard
Lead the whole-school literacy strategy with a focus on reading, writing, and oracy
Work collaboratively with senior leaders and curriculum leads to embed literacy across all subject areas
Design and implement targeted interventions to support students with low literacy levels
Use data and evidence-based approaches to drive up literacy standards across the school
This is a senior middle leadership role, with whole-school responsibility and the opportunity to influence teaching practice and student outcomes at scale.
A qualified teacher with QTS and significant experience teaching English
A strong track record of impact on student achievement
Proven ability to lead, inspire, and motivate staff and students
Experience in designing or delivering literacy strategies or interventions
A deep commitment to educational equity and raising aspirations for all learners
Competitive Inner London salary (MPS/UPS) plus TLR 1 for whole-school responsibility

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
