Job Description

Zest Education are seeking a dedicated Biology Teacher to join a fantastic secondary school in the Bournville area. The school is part of a Multi-Academy Trust and has a reputation for excellence in education. The successful candidate will join a highly successful science department and be responsible for planning and marking Biology lessons up to Key Stage 5. The role is due to commence in September 2025, and will run for a minimum of one term.

Responsibilities:

– Plan and deliver engaging and high-quality Biology lessons up to Key Stage 5.
– Ensure curriculum coverage and progression for all students.
– Utilise various teaching methods and resources to cater to different learning styles.
– Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student participation and achievement.
– Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and provide timely feedback.
– Collaborate with colleagues in the science department to share best practices and resources.
– Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
– Stay up-to-date with developments in the field of Biology and incorporate relevant advancements into teaching practice.
– Actively participate in departmental meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.

Requirements:

– Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification in Biology.
– Proven experience teaching Biology at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
– Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Biology.
– Excellent communication and organisational skills.
– Ability to effectively differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
– Experience with planning and delivering engaging and creative lessons.
– Commitment to ongoing professional development.
